I came across a clever acronym the other day in doing some reading. It was ‘electronic word of mouth’ or ‘eWOM’. I thought it was very clever. Restaurants have always derived much of their business from word of mouth and now with social networking, it is the new form of word of mouth. I read a study the other day from Hopitality Technology that cited that over 50% of teens and tweens help make the decision on where they eat as a family. And where do they hear of things? From Facebook or Twitter. Welcome to the world of eWOM. Every restaurant should put a plan in place to regularly keep thier social sites current. Word will spread – and that’s good for you!
