For SDC Restaurants, LLC’s acting CFO, Cody Wong, Carl’s Jr. is more than just a business; it’s a family legacy. His father, Sam Wong, became a Carl’s Jr. franchisee in 1992, the same year Cody was born, making the brand an integral part of his life. Now overseeing 52 locations, Cody is responsible for streamlining back-office operations, including accounting and payroll. As the business expanded, outdated accounting practices created inefficiencies, requiring manual data entry and limiting access to real-time financial insights. Challenge

As SDC Restaurants, LLC expanded to 52 Carl’s Jr. locations, its outdated accounting system became a major obstacle, slowing down operations and making financial reporting inefficient.   • Reliance on an accounting platform with limited capabilities. For years, the franchisee depended on QuickBooks Enterprise, which required manual uploads of sales data and invoices from multiple locations.

     

  • Time-consuming accounting processes. Manual processes led to delays in generating financial reports, sometimes taking up to 10 days.

     

  • Lack of POS integration. Without an integration between their accounting software and POS system, the franchisee had inconsistent and outdated financial data.

Sales tax reporting has been cut down by a few hours per month with the help of R365 reporting. Inter-company invoicing has also been automated, which took several hours each month with QuickBooks.
